Using GraphicType Designer

GraphicType Designer acts like a toolbox that roams from application to application. You may want to drop a border or background into a word processor document, or into a design in a drawing or painting program, or into a page layout in your DTP software - or even into a spread sheet to emphasize those great results you've just achieved!

  1. Select a design Type (Border, Corner Piece, Surface Design or Separator)

  2. Enter the Dimensions of the design (Width, Height and Thickness)

  3. Select a design Style (Plain, Simple, Symmetrical or Interleaved)

  4. Select a Corner Effect (None or Corner, or, for Surface Designs, Diagonal)

  5. Select a GraphicType Font from the dropdown list (all GraphicType Font names are prefixed with GT-, so they appear in a single block within the font list)

  6. Select an Adjacent Character (The Corner Character is selected automatically if the Automatic Selection checkbox is checked)

  7. Optionally select a Corner Character (If the Automatic Selection is turned off, or you want to override the Automatic Selection

  8. Click the Colour button to select a colour for the design

  9. Click the Preview button to preview the design

  10. When you are happy with the result, click the Export to Clipboard button

  11. Click in the host application window and paste the design (GraphicType automatically drops down as an icon in Windows 3.1, still on top of the host application window, or onto the Task Bar in Windows 95)

  12. Once you have set up your main design requirements it is quick and easy to experiment - and obtain magnificent results!

You can use designs created with GraphicType Designer in Notices, Invitations, Leaflets, Tickets, Certificates, News Letters, Greetings Cards, Meuns, Programmes, Letterheads, Business Cards, Advertisements, Documents of all kinds... in fact, just about anything you can create with your word processor, DTP or graphic design applications!
